WPAdverts CVE-2026-11801: Update the Classifieds Plugin to 2.3.3

August 17, 2026

WPAdverts site owners should update the Classifieds Plugin to version 2.3.3 or later. CVE-2026-11801 affects WPAdverts versions through 2.3.2 and can expose internal site configuration information to an unauthenticated visitor.

The WordPress.org plugin directory lists WPAdverts 2.3.3 as the current release. The vulnerability record identifies that version as the release containing the correction. No source reviewed for this update confirms active exploitation, but the issue is network-reachable and should be handled as a prompt maintenance task.

Who Should Update

  • Sites running WPAdverts 2.3.2 or an earlier version.
  • WordPress sites that use WPAdverts for classified listings, directories, or listing forms.
  • Managed WordPress customers whose host or agency controls plugin updates.

Update WPAdverts Safely

  1. Confirm the installed WPAdverts version in the WordPress Plugins screen or your managed-host control panel.
  2. Use the normal approved maintenance and recovery process for the site. Do not introduce a new backup schedule just for this update.
  3. Update WPAdverts to 2.3.3 or a later maintained release through the normal WordPress update workflow.
  4. Keep WordPress core, the active theme, and other plugins current as part of the same routine maintenance cycle.

Verify The Site After Updating

  • Confirm the installed WPAdverts version is 2.3.3 or later.
  • Open a representative public listing and confirm normal search, browsing, and contact workflows still work.
  • Have an authorized editor check listing creation and moderation using the site’s normal workflow.
  • Review routine WordPress and hosting security telemetry for unexpected access or plugin errors, then resolve any validated issue through your support process.

If You Cannot Update Immediately

Restrict unnecessary public exposure for the affected classifieds feature, keep administrator access limited to approved users, and arrange a supported maintenance window as soon as practical. Do not rely on a temporary restriction as a substitute for installing the fixed release.
