FIX IT PHILL's DMARC GENERATOR

Welcome to the DMARC Record Generator

Our DMARC Generator helps you create a DMARC record that you can add to your DNS settings, ensuring better email security for your domain. Follow the steps below to create your DMARC policy.

If you’re unsure about how to use this tool, we’ve created a detailed guide to help you understand DMARC and how it works. You can read the full article here: Understanding and Configuring DMARC for Your Domain.

How to Use the DMARC Generator

  1. Enter Your Domain: Type in the domain name that you wish to secure with a DMARC policy (e.g., example.com).
  2. Choose Your DMARC Policy:
    • None (p=none): This is for monitoring purposes only. It doesn’t affect email delivery but gives you insights into any suspicious activity.
    • Quarantine (p=quarantine): Emails that fail DMARC checks will be sent to spam or junk folders.
    • Reject (p=reject): Emails that fail DMARC checks will be outright rejected and not delivered.
  3. Set the Percentage of Emails for Policy Application (pct=): Decide what percentage of emails should be affected by the policy. If you’re just starting out, you might want to test with a lower percentage like 10%.
  4. Define Reporting Addresses (rua and ruf): Enter the email addresses where you’d like to receive DMARC aggregate and forensic reports:
    • Aggregate reports (rua): Daily insights into the email traffic for your domain.
    • Forensic reports (ruf): Detailed reports sent when a message fails DMARC checks.
  5. Apply Optional Tags (adkim and aspf): These optional settings allow you to specify how strict the DMARC policy should be when checking SPF and DKIM alignment. The default settings work for most cases.
  6. Generate the Record: Once you’ve filled out all the fields, click the Generate DMARC Record button to create your record. You’ll receive a string of text that you can copy and paste into your DNS settings.

How to Add Your DMARC Record to DNS

Once you have generated your DMARC record, the next step is to add it to your domain’s DNS settings.

  1. Log in to your domain registrar’s control panel.
  2. Navigate to the DNS Settings section.
  3. Add a new TXT record:
    • Host/Name: _dmarc
    • Value: Paste the DMARC record string generated by the tool.
    • TTL: Set this to the default or 3600 (1 hour).
  4. Save your changes, and your DMARC record will be live shortly after DNS propagation.
