Welcome to the DKIM Record Generator

Our DKIM Generator helps you create a DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) record for your domain. DKIM adds an extra layer of email security, helping verify the authenticity of your outgoing emails and preventing spoofing. Follow the steps below to generate your DKIM record.

If you’re unsure how to handle DKIM or need further guidance, check out our detailed guide: Understanding DKIM and Why It’s Important for Your Domain.

How to Use the DKIM Generator

  1. Send an Email to Yourself
To gather the correct DKIM information, send an email to yourself from the domain you want to secure. For example, if your domain is example.com, send an email from you@example.com to you@example.com. Doing this allows you to retrieve the DKIM signature in the email headers and match the domain.
  2. Retrieve the DKIM Record from the Email Headers
Open the email you sent to yourself and view the email headers (this process varies by email client). Look for the DKIM signature field, which will provide essential information like the selector and public key.
  3. Generate the DKIM Selector
In the DKIM record, the selector is used to identify which DKIM key to verify against. It’s usually something like default, mail, or a custom identifier.
  4. Create the DKIM Public Key
Our tool will generate a public key that corresponds with the DKIM signature. This key will be used in your DNS settings for email verification.
  5. Generate the DKIM Record
Once you’ve gathered the necessary information and filled out the fields, click Generate DKIM Record. This will create the DKIM record that you’ll need to paste into your DNS settings.

How to Add Your DKIM Record to DNS

Once you’ve generated the DKIM record and obtained the details from your email headers:

  1. Log in to your domain registrar’s control panel (such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains).
  2. Navigate to the DNS Settings section.
  3. Add a new TXT record:
    • Name/Host: This will be your selector followed by ._domainkey (e.g., default._domainkey).
    • Type: Select TXT record.
    • Value: Paste the DKIM record string you generated.
    • TTL: Set this to the default or 3600 (1 hour).
  4. Save your changes, and the DKIM record will propagate in a few hours.
