Update for July 12, 2026: Microsoft has published CVE-2026-58596 for Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based). Microsoft rates the issue as Important, NVD records it as high severity, and Microsoft lists it as not publicly disclosed and not known exploited at publication time.
This is still worth fast browser maintenance because Edge is common on Windows workstations, admin jump boxes, RDS hosts, and helpdesk machines. Do not assume normal Windows patch status means every Edge channel has already restarted into the fixed build.
What administrators should do
- Update Microsoft Edge from the browser update flow or managed channel. Microsoft lists version information in the CVE advisory, and the Edge security release notes show July Stable channel updates. Use the newest Stable or Extended Stable build available for the device channel.
